What are the Advantages of China-Europe Express Railway?

 First of all, let's compare the differences between China-Europe Express Railway and sea transportation. The advantages of railway transportation are fast speed and large volume. The destination cities at the end of the geo railway are generally transportation hubs, which makes it more convenient for the goods to reach the destination country. The characteristics of the sea transportation are large volume and low transportation cost. But it is also slower speed and poorer reliability. There are still many uncertain factors comparing the ship's arrival at sea. Compared with land transportation, there are naturally too many uncertainties.

 

In fact, from the perspective of transportation costs, globelink ocean line is definitely better than railways, but the opening of the China-Europe Express will allow more countries to be linked by railways, which is more in line with the "Belt and Road" strategy. Large ems cargo ships have deep drafts and very limited options for berthing ports, but the main disadvantage of sea transportation is that the timeliness is too much worse than that of air and land transportation. For example, in most Western European countries including the United Kingdom, land transportation in truck is not developed. Transfer from ports to destinations isn’t convenient compared to direct trains to cities.

 

Therefore, some industries, such as industries with low value of goods, insensitive to delivery time, and capital time costs, are suitable for shipping; while some industries, industries with high capital turnover requirements, are suitable for China-Europe trains. There is a competitive relationship between China-Europe Express and shipping, but more should be complementary.
